Ancheta, Waddington champions at home duals wrestling tourney

“Traditionally this is a very tough tournament, and this one definitely was that,” said Coach Darin Waddington after his wrestling Eagles hosted seven teams in a duals tournament Saturday, December 29. Wood River’s Dylan Ancheta and Evan Waddington each won all five of their matches as the Eagles finished in fifth place in the team rankings. Waddington’s wins achieved another career plateau with the 100th pin in the senior’s career, along with two more after that

“With the number-two ranked team in Class C (Broken Bow), the numberfive team in Class C (David City Aquinas), a rated team in Class D (Amherst), and the always-tough Class B team from Raymond Central, we were able to win three of our five matches, with wins over Gibbon, Hershey, and Syracuse. We lost to Broken Bow and Amherst,” said Coach Waddington.
