Bradly Loren Dimmitt was born on July 25, 1959, in Littleton, Colorado, to Loren “Jack” and Orlienne “Bucky” (Erven) Dimmitt. His family moved to a farm near Ord in the mid 1960’s. They then moved to Wood River in the early 1970’s, where Brad made lifelong friends. He graduated from Wood River High School in 1977. Brad was united in marriage to Shelly in June 1990. He became an instant father to Adam and Chrissy, a role he cherished. The couple adopted Cassie in 1999, which made their family complete. Brad graduated from Kearney State College in 1992, with a bachelor’s degree in education. He taught in Wilcox for two years, then worked various jobs before working at Fasse Valves in Kearney, where he had worked for over 20 years until his passing. He was a great Husker fan, both football and baseball, but his true love was for the Chicago Cubs. Going to a Cubs game on his 50th birthday and watching them win the World Series a few years ago was so special to him. Brad liked to spend time traveling; doing home projects, working on and restoring his 1975 Oldsmobile; long drives, casino trips, taking afternoon naps and enjoyed having coffee at sunset on his deck at home with Shelly. Brad really enjoyed time with his friends. Traveling, activities, parties or just sitting with friends gave him great pleasure. His most cherished times were with his family. He loved just hanging out with his brothers and sisters (technically in-laws, but he never felt like an in-law), nieces and nephews, laughing, crying, working and playing, teasing, joking and storytelling (and he had a bunch!). His greatest love was for his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved nothing better than to spend time doing anything with them. Brad would do anything for his family. He was a kind, loving, great husband and father, and a fabulous grandfather. Brad had a massive heart attack on May 2, 2019 while at the ER at CHI Health-Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He was flown to Clarkson Tower at UNMC in Omaha, where he spent six weeks in ICU until his death on June 15, 2019, with his family by his side. Brad was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was an organ donor. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shelly Dimmitt, of Kearney; son, Adam Herrera and his wife, Chelsea, of Kearney; daughters, Chrissy Towery and her husband, Shawn, of Kearney, and Cassie Ferguson and her husband, Chris, of Superior; four beautiful grandchildren, Bryceton and Hendrix Herrera, Ashley Towery, and Zoie Schmidt; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dan and Lynn Treadway, Teresa and Mike Reeder, and Mike and Nellie Treadway, all of Kearney, Rick Treadway, of Holdrege, and Jon Hatch, of Wisconsin; 18 nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and nephews; along with other relatives and many friends. Brad was preceded in death by his parents; his sister; and a nephew.
