The Wood River Methodist Church will host the American Red Cross Bloodmobile on Tuesday, August 9, running from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. at the church. There will be a doubles machine if you are eligible and give doubles. Single units will also be taken as usual. You may register on-line at American Red Cross or you can call the Red Cross at 1-800-Red-Cross and your third option is to call Linda Thompson at (308)381-0588 to register to give.
The Lincoln Highway Festival and Car Show returned to the bricks in the Shelton business district on Sunday, July 31, drawing nearly seventy vehicles to the car show. The Wall That Heals, the 3/4 traveling replica of the Washington, D.C., Vietnam Memorial Wall containing 58,000-plus names of the men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice during the Vietnam War, along with a multi-media educational component, will get off of Interstate 80 at Gibbon next Tuesday, August 9, for the “parade” to Kearney. The trucks hauling the Wall will stop near Clevenger’s Convenience store on the highway into Gibbon.
As of July 1, Reverend Jean-Marc Mutwale assumed pastoral duties at Gibbon Faith United Methodist Church and he and his wife, Falonne, and their two daughters, Ketsia and Keren, moved to Gibbon on June 28.
