Wood River receives NDED Community Block Grant

As the year 2019 came to a close, Wood River Mayor Greg Cramer received notice from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development that the city was awarded a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for an amount up to $485,000 for use in drainage and flood control work on the Walnut Street drainage project.

Mayor Cramer said that the $485,000 amount, which is under the grant’s cap of $500,000, was the amount the city estimated the Walnut Street project would cost when it sent an initial notice of intent to the Federal Emergency Management Agency after the March 2019 flooding. He added that $450,000 will go to the project itself, $35,000 will go toward administrative fees, and the city will contribute $47,300 to the project.
