SPS plans for 2020-21 school year

Focus group set up to move forward with caution

A focus group of Shelton Public School staff has been created to concentrate on a proactive plan for the 2020-21 school year, with the ongoing coronavirus in mind. According to Principal Jeff Kenton’s board report during the June 15, Shelton Board of Education meeting, he and Shanna Gannon, the incoming superintendent, have been meeting weekly to discuss different models for the fall semester of the school year.

The focus group meets on Wednesdays with a variety of model topics concentrating on student services, transportation, technical integration, nutrition, and facility needs.

A timeline of how the group will communicate these preliminary models begins with staff and student feedback in late June, and will include parent and community feedback in early July.
