Gibbon American Legion will continue programs

A chapter in the history of the Gibbon American Legion restaurant and bar ended when the establishment closed its doors for business on Monday, July 29. And a new one is beginning to unfold.

First and foremost, the Gibbon American Legion will continue on and will retain its charter, but will simply no longer have a building, according to Gibbon American Legion Commander Shannon Slagle. “The Legion is here to help the community through programs such as Legion Baseball, Boys and Girls State, Junior Law Cadet Program, and more, and will continue to do so,” Slagle explained. He said his hope going forward is that the Legion will now be able to concentrate its efforts more on the community rather than on running a restaurant and bar.
