Evans aces county spelling bee

Local students dot top three of written and oral competitors

Twenty-nine competitors in fifth through eighth grades took part in the Hall County Spelling Bee, held at Wood River High School on Tuesday, February 9, with Wood River eighth grader Jacob Evans earning the 2021 Hall County Champion designation. Students from Wood River, Centura, Trinity Lutheran, 1R, and Cedar Hollow took part in the bee.

Students had five rounds with 15 words each for the written portion of the contest. Those that missed 23 or less were able to participate in the oral portion.
