Clipper pays call to Wood River class
On Thursday, January 17, the Shelton Clipper was invited to make a guest appearance at the Wood River Elementary School’s HAL (High Achievement Learners) classroom. Publisher Steve Glenn and writer/photographer Lynn McBride made the visit.
Betty Smith, the director and coordinator of the HAL program, not only introduced the guests to the class of seven fourth and fifth-graders, but introduced students and the program to the guests by explaining that the students chosen to be a part of the HAL program have qualified, in part, through a testing procedure. “All third graders must take state-required tests on the national level social studies, science, language arts, math, and/or reading standardized tests,” she explained.
