Cairo, Boelus, and Dannebrog fire departments combine for training

On Tuesday, July 21, the Cairo, Boelus, and Dannebrog Volunteer Fire Departments combined their resources and manpower to participate in a house burning exercise in Cairo. Cairo, Dannebrog, and Boelus saw 19, nine, and seven volunteers, respectively, involved in the training.

Fires were intentionally lit in the various rooms of and within the structure of an unused home and teams of five or seven (including a trainer) entered the house to learn about the nature of a hostile fire and how to control it. Safety, teamwork, breathing practice, and water management were all topics as the crews learned “on the go.”
