Lady Bulldogs run away with contest against Lady Eagles

By a 56-33 final tally, Shelton’s Lady Bulldog basketball team bested the Wood River Lady Eagles on the court in Wood River on Thursday, January 23.
After leading throughout the first three quarters of their rivalry game with the visiting Shelton Bulldogs, the Wood River Eagles weathered a fourth quarter surge to slip past the Bulldogs by a slim 46-45 margin on Thursday, January 23.
Rogelio Hernandez’s gold medal performance at the LouPlatte Conference boys wrestling meet held at Ord on Saturday, January 25, helped the Buffaloes to finish the day in fifth place among the eight teams competing. Gibbon finished the day with 94.5 team points. St. Paul won the conference meet with 161 team points.
A sixth place finish was in the cards for the Wood River boys wrestling team at the LouPlatte Conference meet held at Ord on Saturday, January 25. The Eagles compiled 80.5 points on the day for sixth place. St. Paul’s 161 points won the conference meet.
At the January 14, 2025, Boelus Village Board meeting, longtime village board members Gene Whitefoot, serving for 74 years, and Vance Christensen, serving for 14 years, both retired and passed their seats on to Shelly Nielsen and Amanda Bonczynski. Russ Jensen was set to retire his seat; however, the new village board unanimously asked Russ to stay on and he graciously accepted.
