Sharon K. Sabala

Sharon K. (Trucano) Sabala, age 83, of Kearney, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at the Kearney Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be today, Thursday, March 28, at 1:00 p.m. at Horner Lieske McBride and Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services in Kearney. Pastor Ryan Findley will officiate and burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Axtell. Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Thursday.

Sharon was born on October 27, 1940, on the farm north of Culbertson to John and Henrietta (Wagner) Deines. She attended school in Culbertson and graduated in 1958. She played piano and organ for church services at EUB and Methodist churches in Culbertson before graduating high school.

After graduation, she attended Queen Ann’s Beauty School in Kearney where she earned her cosmetology license. She owned and operated her own salon in Shelton for many years, The Colonial Cottage. She married Reverend Alvin E. Trucano in July 1958 in Culbertson.

Two children were born to this marriage, Bonnie and Marlin.

She would later marry Tony Sabala on August 9, 2003, in Torrington, Wyoming. Sharon was a hard worker and put herself through nursing school where she earned a degree as an LPN. She was a long-time member of the methodist church and then later the catholic church.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Bonnie (Denver) Hartwell, of Amherst; grandkids, Toby Johnson (significant other Angie Sicker), Sheena (Jeremy) Morris, Garrick Antillon (fiancé Arianne Smith), Danny and (Aide) Harms; sisters, Florence (Jerry) Fisher and June Brown; brother-inlaw, Bobby and (Lupe) Sabala; many great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and great-grandnephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Sabala; son, Marlin Trucano; parents, John and Henrietta Deines; brother, Hilmer Deines; sister, Marguerite King; and brothers-in-law, Daniel King and Calvin Brown.
