Ron L. Canfield

Ron L. Canfield, age 77, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, passed away at home on August 2, 2026.

A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior.

Burial will take place at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery in Clarion, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family.

He was born October 19, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Marshall and Ruby (Brenizer) Canfield.

Ron graduated from Orange High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in 1970.

He married Francine Sheffield on August 6, 1971, in Clarion, Iowa.

Ron’s career in old school banking took him to Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Montana, and Minnesota. The innovations in banking through technology was something that Ron was known for. His legacy is his family and friends whom he loved dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Francine; daughter, Emily Trotter (Sean) and their children Hayden and Lindsay, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son, Nathan Canfield (Kim) and their children Johnny, Anna and Emersyn, of Wood River; and daughter, Mary Garcia (Nate) and their children, Seanna and Lilly, of Papillion; brother, Claire Canfield; in-laws; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sharon Conard.
