Richard William (Dick) Stearley

Richard William (Dick) Stearley, age 70, passed away December 7, 2023, in Arcata, California.

Graveside services will be held at the Gibbon Riverside Cemetery. The date and time of the service will be disclosed at a later time.

Dick was born on January 28, 1953, in Kearney to Gerald and Phyllis Stearley. He lived with his family on a farm south of Shelton until the age of 12 when he went with his mother to live in California. He graduated from Eureka High School in 1971.

Dick had farming in his heart when he began milking cows for a local farmer. He did this for several years when his love for flowers took him to a daffodil farm just outside of Arcata, California. Dick worked there until he got a job with the City of Eureka where he was a mechanic and subsequently retired from the city.

Survivors include his sisters, Joyce Bauer and her husband Vern and Mary Wrede, both of Grand Island, Sue Farley and her husband Jim, of Wilton, California; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lynne Smolnik; and brother, Dale Stearley.
