Peggy was born on June 11, 1980, in Kearney to Ronald and Vicki (Nutter) Lewis. She was raised in Shelton and graduated from Shelton High School with the class of 1998. Peggy then pursued a degree in nondestructive testing at Southeast Community College, moving to Holland, Michigan, for work in 2000. In 2001, she returned to Omaha and worked at Valmont Industries while completing her business degree at Bellevue University.
In 2006, Peggy moved back to central Nebraska, where she married Wyatt Westberg in 2007. Together, they built a loving home south of Gibbon, blessed with two children: Lucas, born in 2012, and Kenzie, born in 2014. Peggy’s world revolved around her family, and her greatest joy was being a wife and mother.
Peggy worked as a Program Technician for the Farm Service Agency, but in 2017, her life took a challenging turn when she was diagnosed with clear cell sarcoma. Despite battling the illness with remarkable courage, she had to take medical retirement in 2022. For many years, she fought with determination and resilience, never letting the illness define her. Throughout her journey, she remained a source of inspiration to all who knew her, facing each challenge with grace and unshakable spirit. Her fight continued until the very end of her life, and though she is no longer with us, her bravery and tenacity will never be forgotten.
Peggy was a longtime member of the Shelton United Methodist Church, where she contributed
her talents to the chime choir. She was also an active member of Chapter BI, P.E.O.
Peggy’s love for the outdoors was evident in every aspect of her life. She enjoyed working in her yard, helping on the farm, camping, and snow skiing. Some of her most treasured moments were spent on camping trips including trips to Colorado and South Dakota. Above all, Peggy cherished the time spent with her family — her children, Lucas and Kenzie, and her devoted husband, Wyatt. These trips were not just about the landscapes, but about creating lasting memories and strengthening the bonds that meant everything to her. Her love for her family and the outdoors will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to share these moments with her.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Wyatt Westberg, and their children, Lucas and Kenzie Westberg, of Gibbon; her parents, Ron and Vicki Lewis, of Shelton; her brother, Curt (Chris) Lewis, of Shelton, and their children, Ryan Lewis, of Shelton, and Taylor Lewis, of Lincoln; her sister-in-law, Kristin (Jon) Bowling, of Wood River, and their children, Evie and Kleo Mae Bowling, of Wood River; her mother-in-law and fatherin- law, Jeff and Pat Westberg, of Shelton; her grandmother-inlaw, Joan Westberg, of Kearney; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
Peggy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Dorothy Lewis and Richard and Grace Nutter; and her grandfather-in-law, Marlin Westberg.
