Paula E. Slade

Paula E. Slade, age 74, of Kearney, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at her home surrounded by family. Memorial services were held Friday, August 28, at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney.

Paula was born November 13, 1951, in Gothenburg, to F. Paul and Arline (Veit) Musil. She received her education at Gibbon High School, graduating in 1970. Paula later attended Grand Island Business School. She worked at Standard Oil for her dad for several years and then for various doctors’ offices over the years. On December 1, 1979, Paula was united in marriage to Gary Slade in Kearney.

Paula loved all animals, and especially enjoyed feeding birds. She also loved being outdoors, either fishing or pulling weeds.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gary Slade, of Kearney; daughter, Cami Cumblidge, of Lincoln; four grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; brother, Rick (Caroline) Musil, of Forney, Texas; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents; son, Troy Middleswart; and her sister, Wanda Fairchild.
