Lucy Cagler
Lucy Cagler, age 88, of Gibbon, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
A Celebration of Life was held Friday, August 30, at the Kearney American Legion.

Lucy was born in Genoa to Nevada “Neva” and Ross Morris. In 1953, she moved to Kearney where she met and married Louie Cagler on October 2, 1954. From this union they were blessed with five children, David (deceased); daughter-inlaw, Cindy and Tim Busch, of Kearney; Kathy (Al) Clevenger, of Shelton; Debra Reisbeck, of Kearney; Cynthia (Michael) Conklin, of Sandy, Utah; and Colleen (George) Budman, of Catawissa, Pennsylvania.
Louie and Lucy lived in Kearney until they moved to the farm in 1961 near Gibbon. In addition to being a loving mother she was active with helping Louie on the farm until the children were in school. Her career consisted of working at Kaufman’s and Hellman’s Ladies Wear in Kearney, followed by 12 years at Exchange Bank of Gibbon. Even in retirement she played an active role on the farm with discing the fields for planting and driving grain truck for harvest. Harvest was a family event with her sister-in-law, Rene and husband Ken Dicke participating for several years.
Lucy loved the warmer weather and for 30 years traveled to their Texas home in Mission for the winters. She loved dancing, playing cards, dominos, camping/fishing, Husker football, volleyball, and the Cagler reunions in Reno, Nevada, over the years. Canning corn was always a yearly family and friends event. Trips to the casino were her favorite and everyone was so jealous of how lucky she was. Her fried chicken and potatoes and gravy that only she had perfected, will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Louie Cagler, of Gibbon; forementioned children; grandchildren, Justin Cagler, Corey and Micaela Cagler, Kevin and Amber Cagler, Mandi and Bobby Schutte, Krystal Shiers and Jeremy Robb, Michael Clevenger and Katie Butler, Kaci and Vinny Molina, Deric Sinsel, Nicole Sinsel, Bret Lower, Brock and Allie Lower, Jamey Muth, Ashlea Woolley, and Aaron Woolley; great-grandchildren, MaKenzie Cagler, Maddex Cagler, Brooklyn Cagler, Madilyn Cagler, Bryson Cagler, Aubrey Schutte, Trace Molina, Olive Lower, Lennox Muth, Adelaide Muth, and Kierra Sheets; sisters-in-law, Geri Wittmer, of Hardie, Texas, and Dee Cash, of Colorado; brother-in-law, Ken Dicke, of Colorado.
