Lois Muhlbach

Lois (Niemack) Muhlbach, age 87, of Ravenna, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2022, at Country House in Kearney. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 5, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ravenna with Reverend Russell Bonine officiating. Burial will in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery north of Shelton. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 on Friday, also at Bethlehem Lutheran in Ravenna. All memorials will be designated by the family at a later date.

Lois Muhlbach was born on March 4, 1934, to William and Bertha (Hehner) Niemack, of Shelton. She graduated from Shelton High School in 1951 and attended Kearney State College. She married Bruce Muhlbach on June 5, 1955, and the couple celebrated 64 years of marriage before Bruce passed away in 2019.

The couple made their home on the Muhlbach farm north of Shelton, where they raised their family. Lois was very involved in serving and worshipping her Lord at Zion Lutheran Church. She loved making music, playing the piano, organ, and a “mean” accordion! She taught in rural schools in the area, raised her three boys, and kept all the books on the family farm. She served on the school board of the Shelton Public School for 14 years and was very active in the Buffalo County Extension. She discovered a new passion for china painting, joining the local association of the China Painters (WOCP) and later served as the state president of the association. She also loved giving time and attention to her five grandchildren.

Lois is survived by three sons, Dan and wife, Linda, of Kearney, Gary, of San Diego, California, and Russ and wife, DeeDee, of Shelton; five grandchildren, Jenna (Lance) Friesen, of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Brett (Maria) Muhlbach, Nate Muhlbach, and Addison Muhlbach, all of Lincoln, and Jared Muhlbach, of Madrid.

She was preceded in death by her husband (Bruce); her parents (Bertha and William Niemack); and three brothers, Rodney, Loren, and Larry Niemack.
