The family suggests any memorial contributions for Laurie be made out to Gibbon Baptist Church or given directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

She was born April 6, 1956, in Kearney to Milton and Lucille Codner.

Raised in Gibbon, Laurie grew up with the values of faith, kindness, and family. In her younger years, she spent summers detasseling corn and working in her father’s real estate and insurance office — experiences that built her strong work ethic and her genuine appreciation for people. After graduating from Gibbon High School in 1974, she continued her education at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and Kearney State College.

Laurie became a member of Gibbon Baptist Church in 1965 and continued to actively attend churches in Omaha, Las Vegas, and Georgetown, Texas. In church she found fellowship, friendship, and meaningful ways to serve. Her unwavering faith was the foundation that shaped her character and guided her actions.

Throughout her career, Laurie worked for Grampy’s Pancake House, Parker Grossart Bahensky Law Firm, Pyramix Realty, Christopher’s of Columbus, Lindsey International, and CVE Credit Card and Check Processing. She also played an essential role in several of her husband’s business ventures. Wherever she applied herself, Laurie was known for her patience, dedication, meticulousness, and ability to connect with others.

She possessed a quiet strength that inspired those around her. She faced challenges with grace and resilience, always upholding gratitude and compassion. She remembered every detail you shared with her — then asked twenty more thoughtful questions. Her ability to persevere while lifting others up was one of her most admired qualities.

Laurie is survived by her husband of 45 years, Michael Schneider; daughter, Kristine Schneider; brother, Steven Codner (Sharon); brothers-in-law, Greg Ressler, Mark Schneider, and F. William Schneider; sister-in-law, Debbie Laugesen (Ed); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carolyn and Marcia; brother, Harry Dean Codner; and brother-inlaw, Terry Loschen.

Laurie’s life was defined by faith, kindness, and generosity. Her legacy lives on in the lives of those she touched and the family and friends she cherished. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
