Larry Lee Fester

Larry Lee Fester, age 87, of Ogallala, passed away Monday, May 11, 2026, at the Ogallala Community Hospital.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, May 19, at the United Methodist Church in Ogallala with Reverend Curt Magelky officiating. Inurnment was at the Ogallala Cemetery with military honors by the Keith County Honor Guard.

Memorials have been established to the United Methodist Church in Ogallala.

Larry was born on August 1, 1938, in Kearney to Alfred and Elanor “Riley” Fester.

Larry attended school in Shelton where he graduated high school in 1958.

He worked for Campbell Soup in Omaha until he joined the United States Coast Guard on May 29, 1961, where he served in Seattle, Washington, until he was discharged on May 28, 1967. Larry then moved to Ogallala to work at TRW. He met Judith Purintun while working at TRW and they were married on June 30, 1968, in Gothenburg. They made their home in Ogallala where they continued their careers at TRW, now American Shizuki, Inc.

Larry retired from American Shizuki after 55 years.

Larry and Judy adopted their son, Wayne Fester, in 1976 when he was three days old.

Larry loved traveling and camping.

Survivors include his son, Wayne, of Ogallala; his brother, Gale, of Kearney; and sister, Shirley Wrage, of Shelton.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; and his brother, Jim.
