Howard Hadenfeldt

Howard Hadenfeldt, age 66, died Sunday, May 15, 2022, at his home under hospice care in Branson, Missouri.

In accordance with his wishes, a prayer service will be held for family and friends on Saturday, June 11, 2022, 11:30 a.m. at the gravesite of Norman and Dylece Hadenfeldt, Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cairo. The service will be conducted by Brian L. Wright, Pastor of Christ Lutheran Church. A luncheon will follow at the Church, 503 W. Medina St., Cairo. Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, of Forsyth, Missouri, is assisting the family.

Lester Howard Hadenfeldt was born April 2, 1956, in Grand Island to Howard E. Fries and Marjorie N. Lantz (Gilliland) Fries. His father was killed in a grain elevator accident in Humboldt on December 27, 1958, and in the spring of 1959, Howard came to live with and later be adopted by Norman and Dylece Hadenfeldt, of Dannebrog. He grew up in the Cairo-Dannebrog community, was confirmed in Christ Lutheran Church and a 1974 graduate of Centura High School. In 1980, he married Theresa Langowski at Alameda, California, and four children were born to this union. They later divorced. Howard lived most of his adult life in the Bay area of California and found success in specialty sales of the car business. Later in life he spent time on landscaping and woodworking projects for others and often volunteered his time to his church, local organizations and people in need.

Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer (Kenny) Egner, of Sonora, California, and Jamie Hadenfeldt, of Danville, California; a son, Nicholas Hadenfeldt, of Concord, California; three sisters, Dianne (Jeff) Berger, of Surprise, Arizona, Joan Larson, of Cairo, and Roberta (Steve) Larson, of Dannebrog; three brothers, Richard (Jeri) Fries, of Dannebrog, David (Sharon) Fries, of Lincoln, and Richard (Jan) Hadenfeldt, of Dannebrog; two half sisters, Janet (Kenneth) Gill, of Bloomington, and Ellen (Jody) Mortensen, of Gothenburg; three half brothers, Thomas (Katie) Holley and Timothy (Theresa) Holley, all of Gothenburg, and Patrick (Penny) Holley, of Lincoln; and a large extended family, friends and his dog.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents and adoptive parents; his son, Kyle Norman Hadenfeldt on March 1, 2019; his half brother, Donald Eugene Lantz in 2015; and his half sister, Rae Jean Syverson (Lantz) who died May 13, 2022. Graveside services for Rae Jean Syverson will be June 11, 10:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul with Pastor Brian L. Wright officiating.
