Helen F. Hartman

Helen F. Hartman, age 83, of Gibbon, died Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Kearney Regional Medical Center. Private family graveside services will be at the Riverside Cemetery near Gibbon.

Helen was born April 25, 1940, in Hastings, to Paul and Faye (Johnson) Summers. She graduated from Grand Island High School in 1958. She then went to nursing school in Grand Island at St. Francis Hospital becoming a registered nurse. Helen worked as a R.N. at St. Francis Hospital for two years and then Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Gibbon for thirty-one years.

Helen married Art Hartman in Kearney on June 17, 1962.

Helen enjoyed traveling with her granddaughters, working in her yard, taking care of her dogs, going to concerts, spending time with family, and especially playing with her great-grandson Cooper.

Helen is survived by her husband, Art Hartman, of Gibbon; daughter, Kelly and Mike Peak, of Kearney; granddaughters, Tory Peak, of Omaha, and Sydney and Jarrett Johnston, of Lincoln; great-grandson, Cooper Johnston, of Lincoln; sister, Pauline Creamer, of Kearney; brother, Dick and Sue Summers, of Gibbon; and many special nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her sister, Dean Rowley.
