David Lee Orth

David Lee Orth, age 95, passed away at his home in Orlando, Florida, on August 1, 2026.

Funeral services will be held October 9, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 132 S. Millwood Ave., Wichita, Kansas 67213.

David was born at home at 716 Railroad Street in Shelton on December 13, 1930, to Frances (Devaul) Orth, of Shelton, and Hubert Orth, who was born in Andale, Kansas. His maternal grandparents were Dennis and Frances Devaul, of Shelton. David attended Shelton schools and graduated from Shelton High School in 1948.

After graduation, he joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War, where he fought in the Battle of Chipyong- ni and was injured.

On August 25, 1955, David married Beverly Ballard, of Wichita, Kansas. They had eight children: Jessie Keefe (Bill), David Orth II (Lynn), Patrick Orth (Kevin), Kathryn Orth, Mary LaTorre (Rick), Barbara Ann Orth (deceased), Michelle Mumma, and James Orth. David and Beverly were married nearly 60 years until her death on April 16, 2015.

David spent most of his adult life in Wichita, Kansas. In 2006, he and Beverly moved to Florida to live with their daughter Mary, where David remained until his passing.
