Cindy Lynn (Niemack) Brown was born on January 23, 1961, to Marvin and Gail (Baker) Niemack in Shelton. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Shelton.
Cindy graduated from Shelton Public Schools in 1979. She attended and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree and a masters of social work from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 1985.
Cindy met her husband, Geoffrey Brown, while in college in 1983. They were married on March 1, 1986. The couple made their home in Grand Island and Kearney where they spent 40 years of their lives raising their family. Cindy spent most of her working career deeply devoted to Veteran Affairs — focused on mental health and women veteran programs. Upon retirement, she devoted her attention to spending time with her beloved grandchildren and making cherished memories with them.
Cindy leaves behind a legacy defined by devotion to family and joyful traditions. Cindy’s life was rooted in love — expressed through time, attention, laughter, and the countless ways she made the people around her feel deeply known and cared for. Family gatherings were Cindy’s greatest joy, especially at Christmas. The holiday wasn’t just a date on the calendar — it was an event, an experience, and a labor of love.
Cindy went all out every year, creating games and traditions that filled her home with excitement and laughter. Cindy also had a special talent that anyone who knew her well will smile remembering: she loved to talk on the phone. Phone conversations were one of her love languages — check-ins that often lasted longer than planned and ended with laughter, reassurance, or a perfectly timed comment that only Cindy could deliver.
Those left to cherish her memory are her spouse, Geoffrey Brown, of Kearney; siblings, Greg (Jan) Niemack, of Loveland, Colorado, William (Becky) Niemack, of Omaha, and Tricia (Regan) Wilcox, of St. Joseph, Missouri; children, Alex Brown, of Kansas City, Missouri, Melissa (Zachary) Lundeen, of Omaha, Michael (Rachel) Brown, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Patrick Brown, of Los Angeles, California; nieces and nephews, Andrew Niemack, of Loveland, Colorado, Courtney (Ryan) Manning, of Loveland, Colorado, Keira and Carina Niemack, of Omaha, and Mallorie, Madden and MacKoy Wilcox, of St. Joseph, Missouri; and above all, her cherished grandchildren, Brecken and Wyatt Lundeen, of Omaha, and Oliver Brown, of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Other family members include beloved cousins, colleagues and dear friends.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Carol.
