Carolee Yockey

Carolee Yockey, age 85, of Kearney, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Good Samaritan Society – St. Luke’s in Kearney. Memorial services were held Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Faith United Church in Gibbon with Pastor Mike Evan officiating. Interment was held prior to the service at Riverside Cemetery.

Carolee was born June 30, 1936, in Lincoln to Bill and Ilene (Marquis) Carter. She grew up in Gibbon and received her education from Gibbon Public School, graduating with the class of 1954. Carolee was united in marriage to Dean Yockey on January 2, 1955, in Gibbon. This union was blessed with two sons, Dan and Bill. Carolee and Dean lived in various states while Dean was in the Air Force. During his career in the Air Force, Carolee provided childcare at Air Force Bases all over the country. After Dean retired from the Air Force, the couple returned to Gibbon, where Carolee worked as a secretary at Faith United Church and later worked at Parkview Grocery with her sister. Carolee enjoyed playing Bingo and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

Carolee was a member of Faith United Church in Gibbon and the P.E.O.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Dan (Brenda) Yockey and Bill (Renae) Yockey, all of Gibbon; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay (Fred) Reed, of North Bend, and Pam (Don) Canady, of Hastings; as well as many nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; two great-grandchildren; and her parents.
