Bonnie J. Gillming

Bonnie J. Gillming, age 92, of Kearney, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Brookestone Gardens in Kearney. Memorial services were held Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney with Pastor Sean Dougherty officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Bonnie was born December 6, 1929, in Wood River to Edward and Mildred (Sunderlin) Plunkett. She was raised in Gibbon and attended Gibbon High School, graduating with the class of 1947. On June 3, 1950, Bonnie was united in marriage to Marvin E. Gillming at Bethel E.U.B. Church in Gibbon. In addition to being a homemaker, Bonnie also worked at Gibbon Exchange Bank, J.C. Penney’s in Kearney, and ran an in-home daycare for several years.

Bonnie was an avid reader and loved to knit, sew, embroider, and quilt.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 72 years, Marvin Gillming, of Kearney; children, Roger Gillming, of Kimball, Jerry Gillming, of Kearney, Jim (Jo) Gillming, of Elm Creek, Kasie (Garth) Oliver, of Katy, Texas, Linda (Rick) Allum, of Kearney, Tom (Angie) Gillming, of Gibbon, and Curt (Delilah) Gillming, of Kearney; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; brother, Mearl Plunket and special friend, Connie, of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Sheryl Chaney, of Marietta, Georgia; cousin, Lois Killion, of Elm Creek; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; three daughters-in-law; and a granddaughter.
