Betty L. Myers
Betty L. Myers, age 86, of rural Cairo, went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
A Celebration of Life Service was held Wednesday, June 3, at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Reverend Cathryn Love and Dan Naranjo officiated. Burial was at Mt.
Pleasant Cemetery near Cairo.
Memorials are suggested to either the Cairo Rural Fire Department or American Legion Post #333 baseball.
Betty was born July 15, 1939, in rural Hall County, the daughter of Peter and Irene (Roby) Spiehs. She was raised on the family farm between Cairo and Grand Island and graduated from Cairo High School. Betty attended Kearney State College, majoring in home economics, where she found her passion for cooking, baking and sewing.
On December 16, 1961, she was united in marriage to Jerry L. Myers. This union was blessed with three sons. Betty and Jerry, along with their sons, were third and fourth generation cattle feeders.
Betty was an active member of Cairo United Methodist Church for many years. She enjoyed quilting and loved playing in numerous bridge clubs. Betty and Jerry enjoyed traveling, dancing and attending their children and grandchildren’s many activities. Betty was a wonderful cook and created beautiful quilted items for her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Corey (Heather) Myers, Kelly (Leigh) Myers, and Kirby (Denise) Myers; her grandchildren, Seth, Sophia, Grant (Dani), Madison (Michael Wolfe), Tyler, Dillon, Jaden, Emma, Madeline, and Blake; great-grandson, Cameron; and her brother, Wilbur (Carol) Spiehs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, who passed on March 14, 2015, and her parents.
