Colleen C. Jader

Colleen C. Jader, age 97, of Grand Island, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at Riverside Lodge in Grand Island. No public services are planned at this time.

Colleen was born October 19, 1928, to William David and Alpha (Carney) David in Fredonia, Kansas. She received her primary education from Fredonia, Kansas, High School. She then attended Kansas University, graduating with a business degree. After graduation she moved to Kansas City where she was a merchandising manager for Macys.

On May 31, 1953, Colleen was united in marriage to William Jader and lived in Kansas City, Missouri, until moving to Grand Island in 2014 to be closer to family.

After the birth of her son she became a stay-at-home mother and spent her time sewing, volunteering at her church, participating in a charitable sorority, square dancing, and bowling for nearly fifty years in a women’s league.

After William’s death in 1992 she volunteered at Truman Medical Center until 2014.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Andrew Jader and daughter-in-law, Nancy McGregor-Jader, of Gibbon; granddaughter, Lauren (Jader) Sorensen, of Phillips; grandson, Scott Jader, of Lincoln; and great-grandsons, Brooks Sorensen, Chase Sorensen, and Luke Sorensen, of Phillips.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
