Donald Rodriguez

Donald Rodriguez, age 91, of Shelton, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026, at Edgewood Vista Home in Grand Island.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, April 8, at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Shelton Cemetery.

Don was born April 14, 1934, in Lowell to Henry and Trinidad (Buso) Rodriguez. He was raised on the family farm with his 13 siblings and worked there for many years. For a short time, Don also worked at Chief Industry and later at Eaton Corporation for over 20 years. While farming, Don went from the tractor to the pulpit, serving as a minister in the community for 40 plus years.

Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was known for his sense of humor and had a passion for singing and music. He loved the Lord and studied the Bible daily. Most of all, Don loved being a husband, father, and grandfather.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki Rodriguez, of Shelton; children, Renita (Lee) Landell, of Shelton, Doreen (Joel) Lehman, of Colorado, Zigmond Rodriguez, of Kearney, Alvino (Erin) Rodriguez, of Lincoln, and Teliza Rodriguez, of Shelton; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Beatrice Bevelheiner, of Arizona, Arlene (Russell) Munoz, of Santa Clara, California, Sally Fideler, of California, and Peter (Sherry) Rodriguez, of Arizona; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Henry, Manuel and Arlene Rodriguez, Esther Cadena and Hortensia “Lori” Rodriguez, and Fred, Manuel, Charlie, Jenarro “Shorty,” Paul, Henry and Frank Rodriguez.
