Robert Koepp

Robert “Bob” Wayne Koepp, age 87, of Grand Island, died on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the Byran Health Grand Island Regional Hospital.

Services were held Tuesday, November 25, at Grace Lutheran Church in Wood River with Pastor Don Pobanz officiating. Burial with military honors was in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Memorials are suggested to the Grace Lutheran Church, Wood River or Mosaic. Bob was born on June 4, 1938, in Hastings to Max and Dorothy (Tjaden) Koepp while their family lived on the farm east of Kenesaw. The Koepps moved to the current family farm, north of Wood River, around Christmas of 1943. Bob attended country school at District 16 and graduated from Wood River High School in 1955. He was confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Wood River.

Bob joined the Army on November 14, 1959. He was released to the Army Reserves where he served until October 12, 1965, when he was honorably discharged.

On December 18, 1960, he was united in marriage to Lois Clement, of Scotia, at Peace Lutheran Church, Grand Island. To this union, two children were born, Lorinda Lee and Kyle Robert. They made their home on the same farm he was raised on north of Wood River.

Bob began his career as a land leveler then a life-long farmer in the Wood River and Hazard areas.

Bob enjoyed traveling with Lois in their motor home and spending weekends at Harlan or Sherman County lake with their family and winter in the RV park in Las Vegas, Nevada. He also enjoyed piloting his Piper Comanche airplane.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Wood River American Legion, the Eagles Club, Saddle Club, the Liederkranz, Platte Duetsche Society, Flying Farmers of America, and a past president of the Wood River Country Club.

Those left to cherish his memory include son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Sally Koepp, of Wood River; grandsons, Tyler and Rosalie Koepp, of Hastings, and Garrett Koepp and Trevor Koepp, of Wood River; and great-grandchildren, Madelyn and Elise. Also left to cherish his memory is special friend Janice Simmons, of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the victims of a car accident in 1970; daughter, Lorinda Lee Lori Koepp after a battle with cancer in 2015; his wife, Lois of 54 years also in 2015; his brother, Marvin Koepp in 2016; and sister, Norma Jean Bosle in 2024.
