The oldest of five children, she grew up in a loving home in Kearney, attending Bryant Elementary, Kearney Junior High, and graduating from Kearney High School. She went on to earn her degree in Family and Consumer Science (Home Economics) from Kearney State College.
Sharon was a devoted educator who spent her teaching career at Shelton Public Schools.
Teaching was more than a job — it was her passion and her calling. She poured her heart into every student, becoming a mentor, advocate, and role model. She was a member of the Nebraska Education Association and received honors including the Ak-Sar-Ben Neighbor of the Year. She also served her community through the Shelton Housing Authority, her church, and PEO, Chapter BI.
On December 22, 1960, she married Gary Myers. Together, over their 64-year marriage, they built a beautiful and devoted family. Sharon’s greatest joy was her family — her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She lived by the motto “Family First” and showed her love through unwavering acceptance and unconditional love.
Sharon found joy in supporting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, tending her garden, cheering on the Shelton Bulldogs, Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, and spending time with her Bridge Club friends and church family.
Sharon was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the Nebraska Education Association. She also served on the Shelton Housing Authority. A fierce advocate for children, she quietly supported many in need, often behind the scenes.
Above all, Sharon will be remembered for her sweet spirit, her boundless generosity, and her unwavering love for others. She will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
