Dorothy J. Holl, age 82, of Kearney, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society – St.

Luke’s in Kearney. Memorial services were held Monday, May 12, at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Inurnment followed at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon.

Dorothy was born July 13, 1942, in Kearney, to Carl and Mildred (Thompson) Swedlund. She grew up in Gibbon and graduated from Gibbon High School. Dorothy was united in marriage to Troy Allan Holl on March 19, 1961. The couple made their home in Upland where they raised their two children, Michael and Wanda.

Dorothy worked for Nebraska Turkey Growers in Gibbon for two years and then for Grayson Tools in Minden for 15 years.

Later she was a homemaker for several years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowell. She enjoyed volunteering at nursing homes in Kearney and was awarded Kearney Area Volunteer of the Year in 2014.

Dorothy enjoyed sewing, baking, fishing and playing cards and Bingo with her friends, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Michael (LeaAnn) Holl, of Gibbon; daughter, Wanda (Tracy) Salmon, of Gibbon; grandchildren, Travis (Teresa) Salmon, of Aurora, Trevor (Laurie) Salmon, of Kersey, Colorado, Tanner (Salena) Salmon, of Greeley, Colorado, Derek (Emma) Salmon, of Wharton, Texas, Addison Salmon, of Kearney, Travis (Ashley) Holl, of Omaha, Siera Hehner, of Gibbon, Quincy Ash, of Ainsworth, Forde Holl, of Gibbon, Dayton Holl, of Gibbon, Michael Holl, of Gibbon, Macon Hehner, of Lincoln, and Chris Kreutzer, of Kearney; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Marvin (Linda) Swedlun,d of Grand Island, and Richard (Cheryl) Hunt, of Kearney; and many extended relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Randall Swedlund.
