Alma R. Gaeth
Alma R. Gaeth, age 92, of Kearney, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Kearney Brookdale Northridge. A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Inurnment will be held at Schuyler Cemetery.
Alma was born September 6, 1932, in Howells to Joseph and Katie (Peplinski) Kucera. She grew up and attended school in Howells. On March 27, 1954, she was united in marriage to Dean Gaeth in Washington, D.C. After Dean served his time in the U.S. Army, they returned to Schuyler to manage the family business and raise their family.
Alma was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she served on various church committees and taught Sunday School. They moved to Kearney in 1976. She was employed at Baldwin Filters for 17 years. In her retirement, Alma enjoyed volunteer work, gardening, reading, and attending the grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s school activities.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lorri (Curt) Mayo, of Pleasanton; son, Sidney Gaeth, of Columbus; grandchildren, Amy (Brent) Moore, Tracy Gaeth, Brett (Megan) Mayo, Erin (Bryce) Feeney, and Ryan Mayo; great-grandchildren, Henry, Max and Molly Moore, Landon, Kaleb and Simone Mayo, Layla Feeney, and Carter and Merideth Gaeth; as well as many extended family and friends.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dean Gaeth.
