Elanor “Sue” Jackson
Elanor “Sue” Jackson, age 86, of Wood River, passed away October 3, 2024, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 14, at 10:30 a.m. at Apfel Funeral Home in Grand Island with Derek Apfel officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, October 13, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Sue was born in Hastings on March 31, 1938, to Ella (Johnson) Pulver and Cornelius Orr Pulver, of Kenesaw.
She graduated from Kenesaw High School and then attended St. Francis School of Nursing.
She married Howard “Buck” Jackson June 4, 1961, in Grand Island and moved to Alexandria where Buck taught school. In 1973, they moved to Wood River with their daughters.
Sue worked at St. Francis as an OB nurse. She loved working in OB and helped deliver many babies of friends and family over the years.
Sue was a member of the Wood River Methodist Church (Rachel Circle). She loved Husker sports (a requirement of being married to a coach).
She loved to read, spend time with her grandkids/greatgrandkids and they loved when she spoiled them with her chocolate chip cookies.
Left to cherish her memory, her husband, Howard “Buck” Jackson, of Grand Island; their daughters, Marta (Mike) Meier, of Phillips, Kris Petersen, of Omaha, and Karen (Scott) Opp, of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Derrek (Brittany) and Malorie Meier, Lance Petersen and Alexis (Rafa) Barbosa, and Logan, Landon and Macy Opp; great-grandchildren, Steele, Jett, and Kruz Meier and Elia Barbosa; her brother, Jim (Peg) Pulver, of Kenesaw; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Donna Sahling, Clive Pulver, Jan Augustin, Gayle Pulver, and Maurice Weichel.
