Monica Saalfeld

Monica Lee Saalfeld, age 76, of Kearney, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024, at St. Luke’s Good Samaritan Home in Kearney. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, June 21, 2024, at Faith United Church in Gibbon. Interment will follow at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. today (Thursday) at the church.

Monica was born August 29, 1947, in Kearney to Clyde D. and Winona (Lowell) Zwink.

She received her education from Gibbon High School, graduating with the class of 1965. She later attended business school in Grand Island.

Monica worked various jobs over the years, including a bookkeeper and waitress and was a longtime employee of Good Samaritan Hospital in the housekeeping department.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Paul (Trudy) Gormley, of Marion, Iowa; granddaughter, Alexa Gormley, of Marion, Iowa; sister, Rita (Dennis) Haller, of Kearney; brothers, Steve (Nancy) Zwink, of Kearney, and Randy (Patricia) Zwink, of Shelton; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Monica was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, James Saalfeld.
