Frank A. VanMatre
Francis “Frank” A. Van-Matre, passed away peacefully Monday, February 28, 2022, at his home at the age of 68.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 5, 2022, in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Pastor Dave Hutson officiating. Burial followed in the Kirwin Cemetery, Kirwin, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First St. John Lutheran Church or Hospice Services.
He was born September 26, 1953, in Kearney to Clifferd and Lila Mai (Heider) VanMatre. Frank was united in marriage
Frank was united in marriage November 24, 1973, to Pamela Frink. To this marriage two daughters were born, Holly and Heather. He married Darla Reynolds in 1994 and gained two step-children, Jeremy and Rachelle. Frank was a hard-working,
Frank was a hard-working, dedicated employee of Eaton Manufacturing in Kearney for 34 years. After retirement, Frank worked for BIH Plumbing and Electric. Frank enjoyed his weekends with family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed updating and caring for the farm.
Survivors include his wife, Darla, of Cedar, Kansas; daughters, Holly (Robb) Anway, of Kearney, and Heather (Cory) Smallcomb, of Gibbon; stepdaughter, Rachelle (TJ) Steckelberg, of Boulder City, Nevada; brothers, Nick (Deb) VanMatre, Todd (Tia) VanMatre, and Luke VanMatre, all of Gibbon; sisters, Gail (Clyde) Jones, of Lee Summit, Missouri, and Joan (Tim) McAuliff, of Papillion; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife’s parents; his brother-in-law, Dean Reynolds; and step-son, Jeremy Johnson.
