Experience and hard work to pace Centura teams

Wrestlers welcome new coach, two state wrestling qualifiers

Not new to the system, but new to the head coaching position, Geoff Cyboron has taken over the reins of the Centura wrestling program. In his initial season he greets Austin Simmons and Kile Bentley, both qualifiers to last year’s state meet, along with nine others who lettered in last year’s campaign. Add eight newcomers, and the wrestling room has 19 men on the mat, four freshmen, five sophomores, seven juniors, and Casey Kuszak, Nate Ruhl, and Dustin Charron, the seniors on the roster. “Very competitive,” is Coach Cyboron’s view of this year’s team. “We have a decent number of returning varsity wrestlers. Their leadership and hard work will show as the season progresses. We have a large number in the lighter weight classes, which I expect some quality from,” he added. “The guys all support one another and are a great group of young men to work with.” Coach Cyboron will be assisted by John Linden, Kalen Cumming, Heath Hostetler, John Wetzel, Chris Svoboda, and Zack Bomberger. Ravenna hosts the first meet of the year in their yearly invitational meet. Action in the meet tomorrow, Friday, November 30, begins at 11:00. A future date for note is the quadrangular the Centurions will host Thursday, December 13.
