Sherri Banks, age 63, of Kearney, died Friday, August 10, 2018, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. today (Thursday) at St. James Catholic Church. Father Joe Hannappel will officiate. Interment will follow at Kearney Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Head and Neck Oncology Team at Methodist Hospital. Sherri was born March 19, 1955 to Eddie and Evelyn (Lonowski) Gappa. She was raised in Ravenna and graduated from Ravenna High School in 1973. Sherri went on to earn a business management degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. Sherri was united in marriage to Stan Banks on January 19, 1975, at Lady of Lords Catholic Church, a marriage which lasted 43 years. She had worked for several business in Kearney. Her favorite job for many years was Target. Sherri enjoyed attending her many activities with family and her grandchildren. She also enjoyed attending church and was active in several different committees including prayer group. Sherri will be remembered for her sense of humor and style of playing cards and her love for life. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Sherri is survived by her husband, Stan; daughter, Misty Banks Cleary and husband Mike and their three daughters, Meghan, Madison and Mackenzie; son, Nathan Banks; mother, Evelyn Gappa; brothers, Ken Gappa and wife Dorothy, Howard Gappa and wife Monica, and Danny Gappa and wife Beth; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sherri was preceded by her father; three nephews, a niece and her grandparents.
