Salvador Martinez, of Gibbon, died June 27, 2018, at CHI-Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. A gathering and prayer service was held on Tuesday, July 3, at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Dan Naranjo officiated. A burial of ashes was at the Gibbon Cemetery following the service. Salvador was born on August 14, 1936, to Jose and Manuela (Rodriguez) Martinez, at their home in Gibbon. This is also where he was raised and received his education. Salvador enjoyed gardening, reading, cars. He was an avid boxer in his younger years and was even awarded golden gloves. His greatest joys were his grandkids and his great grand-dogs. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Josephine (Ariel) Pilotos Ramirez; grandchildren, Quincy (Veronica Rojas) Kenton and Cesar Alvarado; brothers, Ernesto Martinez and Arthur Martinez; sisters, Belerina Darnell, Hortensia Lopez, Delores Woodward, Mary Castro, and Dorothy Hehner. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Manuel Martinez, Aristeo Martinez, and Carlos Martinez.
