Jean M. Criss

Jean M. Criss, age 86, of Gibbon, passed away on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at CHI Health-Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 11, at the O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Interment will follow at Broken Bow Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 10, at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. Jean Marie Criss was born on November 6, 1932, in Buffalo County to Harold F. and Marjorie L. (Long) Covert. She grew up in the Kearney area and attended Kearney High School. Jean worked at West Company for more than 15 years. Jean was united in marriage to Harlan “Rusty” Criss on April 24, 1965, in Lincoln. The couple lived in the Kearney area most of their lives. Rusty preceded Jean in death on September 26, 2005. Jean was a member of the Methodist Church, the Eagles Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included crocheting, embroidery, gardening, fishing and boating. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Daniel Hebb and his wife, Mardell, of Kearney, Marlana Karash and her husband, Randy, of Oxford, Sandra Hillstead and her husband, Ben, of Loup City, Rhonda Harrison, of Loup City, Cheryl Casey, of Branson, Missouri, Carrie Criss, of Kearney, Michael Criss and his wife, Carolyn, of Chappell, Ronald Criss, of Johnson Lake, and Steven Criss, of Springfield, Missouri; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol Archer and her husband, Don, of Kearney, Darrell Covert and his wife, Jo, of Kearney, Gary Covert and his wife, Linda, of Lincoln, and Bob Covert and his wife, Darla, of Kearney; along with many other relatives and friends. Jean was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sons-in-law, Jim Harrison and Jim Casey; brothers, Richard Covert and Dale Covert; and sisters, Bernadine Scott and Lucille Scott.
