Edna Violet Maixner
Edna Violet Maixner, age 86, of Cairo, died September 8, 2018, at Lincoln Heart Hospital. Funeral services will be today (Thursday) at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cairo with Pastor Jack Boling officiating. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Edna was born January 24, 1932, in Pollock, South Dakota, to Gottlieb and Christina (Moser) Kerher. She grew up and graduated from high school in Pollock. She was united in marriage to Eugene Hehn and had five children in this marriage. As a military wife she traveled around the world and explored various cultures. In 1970, Edna married Frank Maixner. From this marriage they had one daughter in Texas and later moved to Cairo where they resided until their deaths. She enjoyed crafting with her daughters, puzzles, shopping, and time spent with her grandchildren. She frequently visited Fort Randall casino and had a love for Bingo. She is survived by daughters, Pam (Larry) LeGates, of Milford, Delaware, Paula (Mark) Lammers, of Onalaska, Texas, Pennie (Tim) Eriksen, of Boelus, Peggy (Tim) Lemburg, of Dannebrog, and Roxanne (Nick) Kolev, of Omaha; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Donna, of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Martha, of Bridgewater, South Dakota. Edna is preceded in death by both husbands; son, Jack; sister, Lydia; and brothers, Jake and Irwin.
