David G. Dubbs

David G. Dubbs, age 70, of Cairo, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at his home. Services were held Tuesday, December 4, at First Presbyterian Church in Wood River with the Pastor Brad Jepsen officiating. Burial was at Cameron Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family. David was born on November 25, 1948, in Grand Island, the son of Elton and Jean (Allan) Dubbs. He grew up in Wood River and received his education from Wood River High School, graduating with the class of 1967. He entered the United States Army on March 11, 1969, and served during the Vietnam War, until he was honorably discharged on March 10, 1971. He was united in marriage to Patricia Macek on September 18, 1971, at Our Lady of Lordes Catholic Church in Ravenna. The couple made their home in Wood River on the family farm where he and Patricia farmed and raised their family. He was a member of the Wood River Legion Post 314. Farming was his passion and livelihood, he also enjoyed collecting toy tractors and anything John Deere, shooting gophers with his grandsons, and any time spent with his family and grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Chasity Dubbs, of Wood River; daughters and sonsin- law, Michele (Chele) and Darrell Pittman, of Wood River, and Tracey and Jason Czarnick, of Hershey; 10 grandchildren, Kalon Czarnick, Alex Czarnick, Darian Czarnick, Clayton Pittman, Dillon Dubbs, Zach Pittman, Karissa Czarnick, Andrew 'AJ' Pittman, Cooper Dubbs, and Zane Czarnick; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Rick and Joann Dubbs, of Cairo, Randy and Pam Dubbs, Mike and Pinky Dubbs, Danny Dubbs, Terry and Nohemi Dubbs, all of Wood River, and Wendell and Sally Dubbs, of Kearney, and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents and wife Patricia in November 2017.
