Marvin L. Niemack

Marvin L. Niemack, age 88, of Shelton, joined his wife in heaven on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m.

Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelton. Burial will follow at the Shelton Cemetery. Visitation will be today (Thursday) at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelton from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Apfel Funeral Home is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Shelton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelton. Marvin Leroy was born on October 30, 1935, to William and Bertha (Hehner) Niemack in Shelton. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Shelton.

Marvin graduated from Shelton Public Schools in 1953. He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln prior to joining the United States Army in Aberdeen, Maryland.

Marvin met his wife, Gail Baker, while stationed in Aberdeen, Maryland. They were married on February 28,1960. The couple made their home on the Niemack family farm where they spent 59 years of their lives together raising their family. In partnership with his three brothers, Marvin farmed and raised livestock.

Upon retirement, he was a DAV driver for the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island. He was an active member at Zion Lutheran Church and later joined St.

Paul Lutheran Church in Shelton.

Marvin had a content spirit, keen intellect, a wonderful sense of humor and loved to tell stories. His greatest legacy is the importance of family which included immediate and extended family members to maintain closeness, make memories, and stay in contact.

His favorite saying when leaving a conversation was “bye for now.”

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Cindy (Geoffrey) Brown, of Kearney, Greg (Jan) Niemack, of Loveland, Colorado, William (Becky) Niemack, of Omaha, and Tricia (Regan) Wilcox, of St. Joseph, Missouri; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Alex Brown, of Omaha, Melissa (Zachary) Lundeen, of Omaha, Michael (Rachel) Brown, of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Patrick Brown, of Los Angeles, California, Andrew Niemack, of Loveland, Colorado, Courtney (Ryan) Manning, of Loveland, Colorado, Keira and Carina Niemack, of Omaha, Mallorie, Madden and MacKoy, of St.

Joseph, Missouri, Brecken and Wyatt Lundeen, of Omaha, and Miles Manning, of Loveland, Colorado; other family members include Donna Niemack, Judy Vieselmeyer, Holly Blackburn, many nieces and nephews; and Svetlana Zimina (Russian exchange student who is considered like an adopted daughter).

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carol; brothers, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rodney Niemack, Lois (Bruce) Muhlbach, Loren (Joyce) Niemack, and Larry Niemack, Wayne (Cheryl) Baker, Gary Baker, and Kevin Baker.
