Burghardt, Skeen and Rauert to represent Wood River at state track meet

Two district champions and a runner-up take the Eagle banner with them to the state track meet week. Alexis Burghardt, Jake Skeen and Jessica Rauert qualified for this weekend's state meet in Omaha at the C-9 district meet held at Sandy Creek on Thursday, May 9. The state track meet will be held at Omaha's Burke Stadium on Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18. More information on the state meet can be found at www.nsahome.org.

Gibbon golfers headed to state meet

Top ten finishes by Rylee Reinertson, Ryan Milks and Bennett Steele lifted the Gibbon boys golf team not only to the C-4 District crown on Tuesday, May 14, but earned themselves and the team a trip to the state meet next week in Lincoln.

The Buffaloes finished the district meet with a score of 317 with Ord in a distant second place with a score of 317.

Reinertson and Milks continued thier dominant play as they secured respective first and second places at the district meet with scores of 69 and 76. Steele fired an 82 to land in eight place. All three qualified individually for the state meet.

Also competing at the district meet for Gibbon was Brett Bendfeldt who finished the day with a 90 and Korbin Hynes carded a101.

The 2013 NSAA Class C Boys State Golf Championships will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 21 and 22 at Highlands Golf course in Lincoln. Tee times being at 9:30 a.m. Results will appear in the May 23 issue of the Gibbon Reporter. More information on the state meet can be found at www.nsahome.org.

Bulldogs to send thirteen to state track meet

The Shelton boys and girls track teams competed at the D-7 district meet in Loup City on Wednesday, May 8. The boys claimed the team title with a score of 126, sending the team to the state meet this weekend and the girls team finished the day in sixth place and sending three athletes to the state meet. Bulldog thinclads making the trip to Omaha are Clayton Stoppkotte, Dave Mueller, Elmer Montanez, Dailim Ramos, Darrek Ellis, Jesus Marquez, David Jimenez, Luke Glenn, Corbin Lehn, Dakota Kiger, Shelby Terry, Joey Terry and Triston Stoppkotte. Results from the state meet will appear in the May 23 issues of the Shelton Clipper. More information on the state meet can be found at www.nsahome.org.

Shelton Village Board of Trustees shelve fire truck purchase

The Shelton Village Board of Trustees moved to shelve the purchase of a new pumper fire truck at the board's regular monthly meeting held on Thursday evening, May 9. See more on this story in the May 16 issue of the Shelton Clipper.

Gibbon Board of Education holds final meeting of school year Monday

The Gibbon Board of Education met for its regular monthly meeting on Monday, May 13, for its final meeting before the end of the 2012-13 school year. Read more on the meeting in the May 16 issue of the Gibbon Reporter.

Wood River Eagles Sports Capsule

The Eagle boys and girls track teams both placed sixth at the C-9 District meet at Sandy Creek on Thursday, May 9. Results from the meet will appear in the May 16 Wood River Sunbeam. More information on the state meet can be found at www.nsahome.org.

Wood River's boys golf team wrapped up their season at the C-4 District meet held at Indianhead Golf Course in Grand Island on Tuesday, May 14. The Shelton golf team concluded their season as they competed at the D-2 District meet  on Monday, May 13, at Grand Island's Indianhead Golf Course, where they finished with a team score of 461.

The Gibbon boys and girls track teams competed at the C-10 district meet at Southern Valley on Thursday, May 9. The Lady Buffaloes placed eighth as a team and the boys placed seventh. Results from the meet will appear in the May 16 issue of the Gibbon Reporter.

Shelton Annual Fireworks Show Still Accepting Donations

The 2012 Shelton Fireworks Show proved be another “Small Town Spectacular” that rivals any big town blowout! The fireworks show was viewed by spectators from surrounding communities from near and far. Donations are still being accepted at area businesses as well as at the banks in Shelton, Gibbon, and Wood River. Donations can be mailed to: “Shelton Fireworks Fund” at PO Box 639, Shelton NE 68876. A “standard” contribution is $25, but any amount is appreciated. Thanks to all for contributing and making this a long standing tradition. Each year is a new year that creates a memory of a lifetime for our youth. Once this year’s goal is met, the remainder of the funds will go toward the 2013 show.
