Grim Reaper project raises awareness of alcohol and other drugs at WRRH

Wood River High students came face to face with the harsh realities of illegal drugs and alcohol use recently by experiencing the "Grim Reaper" project. Read more in this week's Wood River Sunbeam!

Shelton Annual Fireworks Show Still Accepting Donations

The 2013 Shelton Fireworks Show proved be another “Small Town Spectacular” that rivals any big town blowout! The fireworks show was viewed by spectators from surrounding communities from near and far. Donations are still being accepted at area businesses as well as at the banks in Shelton, Gibbon, and Wood River. Donations can be mailed to: “Shelton Fireworks Fund” at PO Box 639, Shelton NE 68876. A “standard” contribution is $25, but any amount is appreciated. Thanks to all for contributing and making this a long standing tradition. Each year is a new year that creates a memory of a lifetime for our youth. Once this year’s goal is met, the remainder of the funds will go toward the 2014 show.

 

Shelton Bulldogs Sports Capsule

The Bulldog girls and boys track teams competed at the Wood River Invitational on Thursday, April 10. Read results in the April 17 issue of the Shelton Clipper! The Bulldogs host the Shelton Invitational on Thursday, April 17, which begins at 12:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The Shelton boys golf team will compete at the Red Cloud Invitational on Wednesday, April 16, at 9:00 a.m. and at the Gibbon Invitational at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, weather permitting.

 

Wood River Eagles Sports Capsule

The Eagle boys and girls track teams hosted the Wood River Invitational on Thursday, April 10. Read results from the meet in the April 17 issue of the Wood River Sunbeam. The Eagles will be at the Ravenna Invitational on Thursday, April 17, at 1:00 p.m. before attending the Gibbon Invitational on Thursday, April 24, beginning at 1:00 p.m., weather permitting.

The Wood River boys golf team hosted the Wood River Invitational on Tuesday, April 8, where they finished with a score of 399. See more in the April 17 Sunbeam! The Eagles are scheduled to host a triangular on Monday, April 14, at 4:00 p.m. and will travel to the Fillmore Central Invitational at Geneva, on Tuesday, April 15, at 10:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Gibbon Buffaloes Sports Capsule

The Gibbon boys and girls track teams competed at the Adams Central Invitational on Friday, April 11. See results in the April 17 issue of the Gibbon Reporter! The Buffaloes attended the Minden Invitational which was moved to Tuesday, April 15, at 4:00 p.m. from Thursday, April 17, and, weather permitting, will host the Ron Priebe-Gibbon Invitational on Thursday, April 24, at 1:00 p.m.

The Gibbon boys golf team competed at the Wood River Invitational on Tuesday, April 8. Results will appear in the April 17 issue of the Gibbon Reporter. The Buffaloes will at the Adams Central Invitational on Thursday, April 17, at 10:00 a.m. , weather permitting.
