Eagle golfer Earnest punches ticket to state meet at districts

 

Memorial Day service scheduled for area cemeteries

Memorial Day services are scheduled for cemeteries at in the Shelton, Gibbon and Wood River areas on Monday, May 25.

Services are set for 9:30 a.m.at the Shelton Cemetery Monday morning.

The services at Gibbon's Riverside Cemetery are scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m.

Services for the Wood River area include those to be held at the Wood River Cemetery beginning at 10:00 a.m. Services at the Wood River Catholic Cemetery are set for 10:30 a.m. and services at Cameron Cemetery are scheduled for 11:00 a.m.

Eagle golfer Earnest punches ticket to state meet at districts

Wood River boys golfer Blake Earnest earned a chance to compete at the state meet next week as he fired an 82 to place ninth individually at the district meet on Tuesday. He will take part in the Class C State Championships which will be held at Holmes Golf Course in Lincoln on Wednesday and Thursday, May 27 and 28. Ernest is schedule to tee off on hole number one at 10:30 a.m. on that Thursday.

Shelton Annual Fireworks Show Still Accepting Donations

The 2014 Shelton Fireworks Show proved be another “Small Town Spectacular” that rivals any big town blowout! The fireworks show was viewed by spectators from surrounding communities from near and far. Donations are still being accepted at area businesses as well as at the banks in Shelton, Gibbon, and Wood River. Donations can be mailed to: “Shelton Fireworks Fund” at PO Box 639, Shelton NE 68876. A “standard” contribution is $25, but any amount is appreciated. Thanks to all for contributing and making this a long standing tradition. Each year is a new year that creates a memory of a lifetime for our youth. Once this year’s goal is met, the remainder of the funds will go toward the 2015 show.
